One of the problem with financial spreadsheet is that it is filled with too much data and numbers which make the reader feeling dizzy and often misses trends.

For stock investment valuation analysis, we want to build a spreadsheet with format that help investors to get an impression of the overall states of the company before we drill down to find details and individual numbers. This is especially true if you need to evaluate many stocks.

This video build an advance formatted financial spreadsheet using Google Sheets. The formulas and formatting used happens to be compatible with Microsoft Excel. So reader should be able to also produce similar spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel. Anyway, Google Sheets is equally good and probably more powerful than Microsoft Excel when it comes to stock analysis with the GoogleFinance() functions. Anyway, Googlefinance() is not the topic of this video. Let's focus on formatting.

The key features used in this video are:
1 Formatting large number to present in million (m) or thousand (k) units using Number Format code.
2 Formatting positive and negative number in green or red colour.
3 Creating Column Chart within one cell to give user a quick impression of the trends in the numbers.
4 Use If() and iferror() to handle calculation of periodic growth to avoid division by zero error or simply to avoid meaningless growth rate when the base is negative.
