Amen is one of the most important words we use in our prayers. It signifies Emuna - faith and agreement.
In our Parsha, Sotah answers Amen twice.
Rema in the name of Yerushalmi forbids answering Amen twice after any blessing. However, Rabeinu Bahye (Shemot 14:31) encourages saying Amen-Amen. In fact, we find in (Nechemia 8:6) that the people answered Amen twice.

It’s known that in the Land of Israel there were a lot of sectarians and Gnostics at the time of Hazal, and many of them held semi-monotheistic
mystical beliefs that were considered of even greater danger than pure polytheism of Biblical times. Some of these beliefs included some kind of unity of two different deities (the “First Cause” and the “G-d of Israel,” this belief was later perpetuated by the followers of Shabbati Tzvi). To be sure all these people saw themselves as monotheists but were considered “minim” (heretics) by Hazal, and being that many of them were integrated in Israeli society Hazal had to issue special prohibitions to separate from them. It would seem logical that the Yerushalmi would forbid recital of double (or triple) Amen if in their time this was a sectarian custom with a specific intent of affirming their belief.
