Biodata: Bruno Gonçalves has been an English teacher for 20 years. He is the founder and CEO of Best English, an online English course. He worked for PMV for 2 years. He is currently a teacher at Centro Estadual de Idiomas and a teacher educator with the British Council.

Abstract: The Fanzine Project engages students by connecting them to the rich tapestry of English-speaking countries through culture, history, and media. By exploring an assigned country, students delve into its unique cultural, political, and geographical aspects, drawing from music, movies, and series that resonate with them. This project illuminates how language intertwines with a nation's identity, transcending mere communication. It empowers students to appreciate the cultural context behind the language they are learning, fostering a deeper, more holistic understanding of English. Through this exploration, they discover that language is a gateway to experiencing and appreciating the world.
