The first coloured souvenir coin in a proof set from India Government Mint on Panchatantra story-tale "The Foolish Lion and The Clever Rabbit" was released on 11-February-2022 on occasion of 17th SPMCIL Foundation Day. The mint has plans to release coloured souvenir coins on other story-tales of Panchatantra.

The Panchatantra is an ancient Indian collection of interrelated animal fables in Sanskrit verse and prose, arranged within a frame story with a moral, The surviving work is dated to about 200 BCE, but the fables are likely much more ancient written by the great scholar Pandit Vishnu Sharma. The Panchatantra is a book of moral, the wise conduct of life, written in the form of a chain of simple stories.

The souvenir coin was struck at Kolkata mint with Nickel-Silver (Copper 60%, Zinc 20%, Nickel 20%) weighing 32 grams and 44 mm in diameter.

The obverse has the coloured logo of SPMCIL (Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited) with the legend "भारत सरकार टकसाल" in Hindi and "India Government Mint" in English with the year mentioned as 2022.

The reverse has the coloured picture of the Panchatantra story-tale with the legend "मूर्ख शेर और चतुर खरगोश" in Hindi and "The Foolish Lion and The Clever Rabbit" in English.
