MOUNT TARANAKI | Known as New Zealand’s toughest day hike, the Mount Taranaki summit climb draws in avid hikers from all over. Located in the west coast of New Zealand’s North island, Mount Taranaki is a dormant stratovolcano and the second highest mountain in the North Island at 2,518. This is a challenging full-day hike and the mountain is known for its fast changing weather (we found this out all too well!) if you're lucky you'll be rewarded with 360 degree views of the Taranaki coastline and beyond from the summit - or, a whole lot of clouds 😜
