Unplanned Camping at Ziwani Resort: A Biker's Adventurous Journey Through Adversity 🌄🏕️

Join me on an unplanned solo camping adventure as I set out to conquer Mt. Kilimambogo, only to face unexpected obstacles along the way. With a Monday being a holiday, I decided to make the most of the long weekend by heading to Mt. Kilimambogo for an overnight camping trip.

The journey began on Sunday morning, full of excitement and anticipation. However, things quickly took a turn when I encountered my first dead end – the route to Mt. Kilimambogo was cut off after heavy rains had washed away the River Galana (Athi River) bridge. Locals were crossing via boats, but I decided to find an alternative route.

Arriving in Thika, I realized my path had been diverted all the way to Tala, adding significant distance to my journey. Determined not to give up, I searched for campsites within Thika town but hit another dead end with no campsites available. Desperate to find a place to camp, I stumbled upon Ziwani Resort & Lodge in Mang'u, hidden within coffee plantations (I had spotted it a while back in my search for exquisite, however I noted the challenging route).

Navigating through remote paths, my bike got stuck in the mud at a river crossing, but a kind passerby helped me get back on track. Finally, I arrived at Ziwani Resort & Lodge, where I was warmly welcomed by the friendly resort staff who ensured my stay was comfortable.

Despite the challenges, the adventure was unforgettable. From navigating impassable roads to finding hidden campsites and overcoming obstacles, this trip was a true test of resilience and determination. Watch as I share my experiences, the beautiful scenery, and the wonderful hospitality of Ziwani Resort & Lodge.
