Alaska Snow Day! What happened to Fall? Shop, Cook, & Bake with Me

We just had our first snow day in Alaska but we still wanted to embrace Fall so come along as I shop at my favorite local shop (REVIVE Home Market), cook butternut squash soup, and bake pumpkin cookies with the boys. PLUS, Everett puts together his Halloween Haunted house!


Butternut Squash Chowder: (this is what we based our recipe off of)
4 bacon slices
1 yellow onion, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
1 bay leaf
1tsp chopped fresh sage
4tsp salt, plus more to taste
1tsp pepper
2 russet potatoes, cut into cubes
1/4 cup white wine
3 cups chicken broth
1 jar butternut squash puree
1/2 cup heavy cream

Frosted Pumpkin Cookies:
2 cups butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1- 15oz can of pumpkin
4 cups all purpose flour

Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
3-4 cups powdered sugar

350 degrees bake for 10-12 minutes
