Описание к видео Pluriversal Design SIG Book Club 4: Pedagogy of the Oppressed

Welcome to the Pluriversal Design SIG's BookClub! In this Book Club, we focus on the works of authors from all over the 'pluriverse'. We intentionally focus on the works of authors from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. In our discussions, we discuss how these works impact us as designers.

For this book club, Frederick Van Amstel led our discussion about the work by Paulo Freire: "Pedagogy of the Oppressed".

About the book: Pedagogy of the Oppressed is Freire's attempt to help the oppressed fight back to regain their lost humanity and achieve full humanization. Freire outlines steps with which the oppressed can regain their humanity, starting with acquiring knowledge about the concept of humanization itself.

About the author: Paulo Freire is the author of the bestselling Pedagogy of the Oppressed as well as Education for Critical Consciousness, Pedagogy in Process (The Letters to Guinea-Bissau),Learning to Question (with Antonio Faundez), and Pedagogy of the City.

About the presenter: Frederick Van Amstel is a design educator and researcher who enables people from different social backgrounds to work, learn, and play together while designing websites, applications, electronic products, games, environments, theater performances, and other interactive experiences.
