Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., questioned former special counsel Robert Mueller during his July 24 testimony before the House Intelligence Committee about what led to the opening of the Russian probe. Mueller, who led an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible ties to President Donald Trump’s campaign, declined to answer questions regarding how the probe began or whether the so-called Steele dossier was a contributing factor. Mueller agreed to appear before Congress after being issued a subpoena but said he would not go beyond what was already documented in his final report.
