VINI PONCIA Unmasking KISS in the Eighties!


Vini Poncia worked as a producer and songwriter on Kiss's 1980 album "Unmasked." However, by the time "Unmasked" was being produced, Peter Criss, the original drummer for Kiss, was not actively participating in the recording of the album due to his personal issues and tensions within the band.

Although Peter Criss is credited as the drummer on the album, it was Anton Fig who actually played the drums for all the tracks on "Unmasked." Anton Fig was also the drummer on their previous album, "Dynasty," although Criss appeared on the cover and was credited on that album as well.

Peter Criss was essentially out of the band by the time "Unmasked" was produced, and his departure was made official shortly after the album's release. Despite his lack of participation in the studio, the band initially maintained the appearance of unity for the public and within the band's branding.
