Being a first-time dog owner, it was a steep learning curve when it comes to caring for our dog, Mouse, especially because he was a mongrel that roamed the streets in his puppy years. This meant that he grew up hiding from the storms and cars, scavenging for food on the streets to stay alive. It shows in his timid nature and his fear of humans, which meant everything could trigger him to escape. We were first taught to keep in check with short leash and collars that would tighten, but thankfully we met an amazing trainer that showed us Mouse's perspective.
