Following the death of Sweden’s King Charles XII (Carolus Rex), 6,000 of his Carolean troops marched across Norway’s Tydal mountains to get home. This resulted in almost two thirds of the men freezing to death on their journey – one of the most tragic losses of life to ever befall the Swedish Army.
