One of Shure's longest running series. In production for 28 years, the cartridge body was never changed. Shure's marketing strategy was to make performance upgrades to the stylus assembly and instead of requiring the purchase of a new cartridge, the customer can essentially get a "new" cartridge by using the new stylus assembly. Using the 1981 HE stylus in the 1967 M75 body would result in a 30% performance increase in tracking ability.
