How to Fix “File or Directory Is Corrupted and Unreadable” in Windows (CHKDSK Method)

In this video, I show how to fix the Windows error message “The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.”
This tutorial focuses only on the CHKDSK command, which successfully fixed the issue on my system.

If your D drive is not accessible, or Windows shows a corrupted folder error, follow this step-by-step method.

🔧 Command Used:
chkdsk D: /f /r /x


(Replace D: with your affected drive letter)

🛠 What This Method Does:

Fixes file system errors

Scans and recovers bad sectors

Repairs corrupted directories

⚠️ Important Notes:

Run Command Prompt as Administrator

Do not interrupt the scan once it starts

This method works for Windows 10 and Windows 11

After running this command and restarting the PC, the corrupted folder became accessible again.
