A Green Bay immigrant and refugee resource center is reacting to the incident that took place Friday at the Cinnabon stand at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon.

A now-viral video shows a Cinnabon worker using racial slurs toward a Somali couple. The altercation allegedly ensued after the employee made comments about the Somali woman's hijab.

The person who recorded the video gave FOX 11 permission to use it on air and online, but they have not responded to our interview request.

Said Hassan is the executive director of Community Services Agency, or COMSA, in Green Bay. He left Somalia when he was 10 years old and came to the U.S. in 2015.

Hassan now works with other Somali immigrants and refugees and calls the racial slurs used in the video "horrific."

Hassan tells FOX 11 he knows the couple that recorded the video. He said they didn't tell him much about the heated exchange.

The incident occurred after President Donald Trump made derogatory comments about Somalis last week. Trump accused Minnesota, home of the largest Somali population in the U.S., of being a hub for fraudulent money laundering activity.

Hassan is unsure if there's a connection between the president's words and the Cinnabon incident, but he isn't ruling out the possibility.

According to a fundraiser page started for the former worker, identified only as Crystal, she was allegedly being harassed by the couple. FOX 11 tried setting up an interview with Crystal, but we have not heard back.

Moving forward, Hassan asks for peace and hopes people can disagree respectfully.

A GoFundMe was also launched for the Somali couple. The description says money will be used for legal fees.
