VLOG: Driving abroad? Here's everything you need to know!

If you're planning to drive your car in Europe there are a few things you need to consider before you set off. It's not just a case of hopping into your car and setting off for the continent! So, we've covered everything you need to know for driving your car abroad.

Before you set off make sure you're equipped with a full driving licence, vehicle insurance proof, ID, V5C certificate, travel insurance documents, and European Breakdown Cover policy documents. Ensure your vehicle is taxed, MOT valid, and you have a Crit’air sticker if driving in France. Carry essential equipment such as reflective jackets, a warning triangle, headlamp beam deflectors (if necessary - many newer cars can be adjusted via a menu), a UK car sticker and a first aid kit. Make sure you are suitably prepared to deal with a puncture - check your tyres before you set off and your spare tyre/inflation kit - and have plenty of bulbs and fuses. Other advised items include a fire extinguisher, spare fuel can, torch, engine oil, a road map or navigation system, blankets, refreshments, games for kids, photocopies of important documents, and a Global Health Insurance card (GHIC).

It's important to understand the driving laws of your destination and comply with legal requirements such as adjusting headlights for right-hand side driving and displaying a UK sticker.
