For once, I'm returning to a genre I'd somewhat abandoned for a while : Acidcore/Trancecore.
Okay, let's be clear, I'd be lying if I said it was once my thing, haha, not really. I've always been the villainous Dragon who wrecks poorly set up sound systems and/or systems unsuitable for punk music... yeah, if you're into tribe, hardtek, or acid, don't invite Dragon to play on your wall, okay ?
(Personally, I've never had any problems with my sound systems, neither at parties nor in my studios. I've never blown my sound... and it takes a beating!) 🤣 Message received !
So, all joking aside, I did occasionally dabble in the lively acid scene, and I've always loved the Xoxbox. For me, it's still the best 303 clone! Even though I really like the Roland Boutique TB-03, I definitely prefer the Xox, and the little T8 is different now because it doesn't sound anything like a Bassline 303, and that's precisely why I love it !
Anyway, it had been years since I'd turned on my old Xox, but I know why she's still in my studio 😄
This second Hard Work EP is therefore a tribute to my old Xox !
Since it's an analog EP, I'm using the Jomox Mbase11 module with the Xoxbox, a formidable little MIDI module for drums !
All the sounds are made with these two; all the drums come from the Jomox, and the three synth sequences come from the Xoxbox. It's a multi-track piece.
I use a few multi-effects processors from one of my rack units, some of which you can see in my video, which is nothing more than a short filmed segment of the preparation of a sequence...
Among other racks, there's : Sherman Filterbank 2, Line 6 Helix, Line 6 Pod Pro, Vermona Action Filter 4, Tech 21 SansAmp GED-2112, Engl E530, Dunlop Effects Crybaby... and others.

Une fois n'est pas coutume ce soir je retourne sur un terrain que j'avais un peu abandonné depuis longtemps : Acidcore / Trancecore.
Bon soyons clairs, je mentirais si je vous disais qu'à une époque c'était mon rayon haha, non pas vraiment, j'ai toujours été le vilain Dragon qui casse des systèmes sons mal règlés et/ou pas adaptés à la musique de punks.......ouais si vous faîtes de la tribe, de la hardtek ou de l'acidt, n'invitez pas Dragon à venir jouer sur votre mur ok ?
(perso j'ai jamais eu de problème sur mes systèmes sons, ni en teuf ni dans mes studios, j'ai jamais cassé mon son....et pourtant il prend cher !) 🤣 message passé !
Du coup blague à part, il m'arrivait quand même quelques fois d'aller chatouiller les acides animés, et j'ai toujours adoré la Xoxbox, pour moi elle est encore aujourd'hui le meilleur clone 303 !
Même si j'aime beaucoup la TB03 de Roland Boutique, je préfère carrément la Xox, et le petit T8 aujourd'hui lui c'est différent car il ne sonne pas du tout comme une bassline 303, et c'est pour cette raison que je l'aime justement !
Bref, cela faisait des années que je n'avais pas allumé mamie Xox, mais je sais pourquoi elle est toujours dans mon studio 😄
Ce Hard Work deuxième du nom est donc un éloge à Mamie !
Comme c'est un EP analogique j'accompagne la Xoxbox avec le module Mbase11 de Jomox, redoutable petit module midi pour les drums !
Tous les sons sont fait avec ces deux-là, toutes les drums viennent du Jomox et les 3 séquences synthés viennent de la Xoxbox, c'est un morceau multi-tracks.
J'utilise quelques processeurs multi-effets d'un de mes meubles rack, dont certains que l'on voit dans ma vidéo, qui n'est rien d'autre qu'un petit passage filmé de la préparation d'une séquence...
