Ami, Anaya, Ashwini, Chiinthu and Pranita met through Raga Labs and have been actively involved in various projects commissioned by IndianRaga London. Inspired by IndianRaga's alluring rendition of Samaja Vara Gamana, they created a distinct choreography, structuring elements of Raas in Bharatanatyam.
In this dance, Lord Krishna is celebrated as one who transcends time and is infinite, and at the same time, relatable. He is also praised for his elephant-like movement. It starts with praising Lord Krishna, the caring one, who is the protector of the lotus like hearts of the saintly, for whom songs are sung from the Sama Veda. He who knows it all!
The choreography aims to convey the different elements of Krishna and different aspects of life, and to encompass all that is dear to him, including Raas where the dancers are seen weaving in a circle emulating the Raas movements. Others include peacock feathers, bringing the cows together, playing his flute, or dancing on Kaliya. However, the highlight, and that which is repeatedly showcased is his distinct and magnanimous elephant-like movement.
