Tarique Rahman, son of Bangladesh's opposition leader Khaleda Zia is expected to speak at a rally after his mother was freed from house arrest the day before.

On August 5, Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin issued an order for the release of Khaleda, shortly after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tendered her resignation and left the country.

Zia, 78, who twice held the post of prime minister, was convicted in a corruption case in 2018 and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
