A lilting well-loved Swarajathi now made fun for kids!

“Rara venu gopa bala” these Telugu lyrics implore Lord Krishna, “Please come to my lord Venugopala”. Believed to be composed by Patnam Subrahmanya Ayyar, this popular Swarajathi with its pleasing melody, in Carnatic raga Bilahari and set to Adi Talam, is one of the early compositions that kids learn when they start Carnatic music lessons.  A new arrangement of this happy-sounding piece makes it contemporary, peppy, and a lot of fun for kids!

Combining ideas from pop and kids’ music, team Mahesh Raghvan, Alapana Bagirath, Arjun Ravi Shankar,  KDB Madhavi, Swaminath Jayaraman, and Vishnu Priyaa match lively vocals, beats of the Ghatam with musical notes of the Flute, Veena, and Geoshred, accentuated at places in the song that kids will find new and interesting.
