I'm a bagpipe instructor in Montréal (I've been teaching since 2005, privately and with the Montreal Piping & Drumming School), and I made this video when I realised my students had no examples for practicing the standard band strike-up (or attack) slowly. Never play faster than you comfortably can. I recommend practicing along to the video with headphones, pausing/repeating as needed.
Edit- the intro E before any tune should be started by blowing, not squeezing. In the video I sometimes start the E with the arm, because it was too short to get a clean cut-off otherwise.
