Stunned Judges: Amari Scott Keys, waitress at Wings and Rings advances to Hollywood on American Idol

Amari Scott Keys, a waitress at Wings and Rings in Richmond, has been singing since she was 11 years old. After quitting music three or four years ago, Keys auditioned for American Idol, a show she had started watching from the first season. During her audition, she impressed celebrity judges Lionel Richie and Katy Perry with her rendition of "She Used To Be Mine," earning her the golden ticket to Hollywood. Keys, who is now a waitress at Wings and Rings, said the breakpoint for her audition was due to her mother's diagnosis of Moya Moya disease, a rare and progressive brain disorder. She has never considered herself a huge vocalist, preferring to be considered a storyteller or poet that enjoys singing.
