Former Orlando Christian Prep basketball guard Damon Harge Jr., who left Florida to play in North Carolina as a junior last season, is back.

Harge, a 5-foot-9 guard who has been a YouTube sensation for his dazzling ballhandling and shooting skills since he was an elementary schooler in California, told the Sentinel on Wednesday that Orlando is again his home and he will play his sixth and final season of varsity basketball at Class 9A powerhouse Oak Ridge this year.

“My family moved back (to Orlando). I wanted to be close to them for my last year before I go to college,” Harge said from Las Vegas, where he is playing for the Orlando-based Showtime Ballers travel team in Fab 48 and BigFoot tournaments this week.

“It was a family-based decision. I’m very excited to come back home. I feel like I’m going to be able to get in the gym a lot more and be able to lift and get stronger and bigger.”

Two-sport prospect Blake Hinson departs Deltona High as a junior. »

Harge moved from North Carolina to Orlando in 2013 already holding two years of varsity experience and became an eighth grade starter for a 30-1 OCP state championship stacked with four D-I senior signees.

He was a floor general and lethal perimeter shooter for the Warriors, averaging 10.4 points as a ninth grader and 14.3 as a sophomore. Harge led the Warriors in assists both seasons and shot 43-percent from 3-point range (56-of-130) as a tenth grader.

Harge left to enroll at Christ School of Arden, N.C., last season but his play was limited due to a partially torn MCL injury.

“I missed a lot of time. I’m back and I’m healthy,” he said.

“I definitely want to come in and be a leader for Oak Ridge. I want to be a leader, get guys the ball, score. ... and win. I want to win.”

Harge held scholarship offers from UCF, DePaul, Memphis, Texas Tech and others as a ninth grader according to VerbalCommits.com, but his recruitment cooled when he missed much of last season. He said on Wednesday that no major colleges have shown major interest this summer but he hopes that will change soon as he returns to the spotlight.

“I feel like I’ll be back on the radar after this,” Harge said.
