If you travel north on the Maple Street Bridge, you'll want to consider making some changes to your travel plans.

Starting on Monday, September 18, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., northbound lanes of the Maple Street Bridge will be closed as crews do work on the bridge.

This traffic schedule will be in effect for northbound lanes until October 6, according to the City of Spokane.

Here are some of the different detours that will be in effect because of the traffic.

Vehicles traffic will go east on 3rd Avenue then turn north onto Lincoln Street to cross the Monroe Street Bridge and continue north. Drivers can then access northbound Maple Street at Northwest Boulevard.

For freight traffic, traffic will go east on 3rd Avenue then turn north onto Lincoln Street to cross the Monroe Street Bridge. Freight traffic can get to northbound Maple Street from westbound Indiana Avenue and Northwest Boulevard.

There are also some southbound lane closures that you should know about.

Southbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Cars may go eastbound on Northwest Boulevard and turn southbound onto Monroe Street to cross the Monroe Street Bridge. Drivers can access southbound Ash Street at 2nd Avenue.

Truck drivers will be detoured separately. Freight traffic will go eastbound on Indiana Avenue and turn southbound onto Division Street to cross the Spokane River and access southbound at 2nd Avenue.

The Maple Street Bridge Project is expected to be finished in mid-November.

"We have on schedule the Washington Stevens Bridge to be done in 2024, so we need to get this bridge done now so we dont have two bridges closed simultaneously," said Kirstin Davis, Communications Manager for the City of Spokane.

Davis said the City timed this construction to be make as little of an impact as possible.
