One Line Wash Day: Entire Cantu Avocado Line (Drugstore Product Review)

In today's video, I walk through the complete line up of Cantu's Avocado line. I use these products for my entire wash day, from beginning to end, starting with the shampoo and ending with the gel.

The products that ARE curly girl method approved are: Cantu Avocado Hydrating Shampoo, Cantu Avocado Hydrating Curl Activator and the Cantu Avocado Hydrating Styling Gel

The products that ARE NOT curly girl method approved (CGM) are: Cantu Avocado Hydrating Conditioner, Cantu Avocado Hydrating Repair Leave-In, and the Cantu Avocado Hydrating Curling Cream.

Both the Conditioner and Curling Cream contain a wax while the Leave-in conditioner has silicone in it.

The conditioner has Isododecane in it, which is a wax and can cause build up, so some may want to avoid it.

The leave-in conditioner has Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane and Dimethicone PEG-8 Meadowfoamate.

Dimethicone PEG-8 Meadowfoamate is water soluble and the other two are less likely to build up, but they still aren't CGM approved and many may want to avoid them.

The curling cream has Petrolatum which is another wax and could cause build up in the hair.

All of the stylers (the leave-in, curl activator, and curl cream) do have protein in them. They have both hydrolyzed silk and silk amino acids.

Overall, I really liked this line. The shampoo is sulfate-free. It's both clarifying and chelating, but didn't leave my hair dry. The conditioner had good slip and made detangling my hair really easy. The leave in also had good slip and felt good on my hair. I did compare the curl activator and the curling cream, one on each side of my hair. The curl activator was definitely the lighter of the two and if I had to choose, probably my favorite. It gave me more curl definition, more volume, and more shrinkage, where the curling cream elongated my curls. But both did feel great on my hair. The curling cream felt very nice and silky. The styling gel reminded me a lot of the Eco Style Professional Gel. It had a very similar texture. It didn't give me much of a gel cast, but gave my hair a surprising amount of hold, so that my hair lasted really well into day 3. If you aren't CGM I would recommend all of these products. If you are, the shampoo, curl activator and styling gel are CGM and I would definitely suggest giving them a try.
