Torrential Rain and Hill Fog Wild Camp in the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label Tent

In this video, I head out for a wild camp in some torrential rain and (forecast) strong winds. I took the Hilleberg Soulo (black label tent) as the winds were forecast to be in excess of forty miles per hour.

The walk to the pitch site was difficult in driving rain and very poor visibility, with atmospheric banks of hill fog rolling across the fells.

I found a place to pitch as it began to rain heavily. The tent was hit with heavy rainfall, which is a relaxing sound to listen to when warm and and dry inside. A break in the weather allowed for a brief leg stretch before the rain returned and set in for the night.

An evening meal of beef and potato stew from Real Turmat was very enjoyable, along with a few craft beers.

The next morning, I awoke to a very wet day - with the heavy rain having persisted overnight. The roof of the tent was wet, although it’s difficult to tell whether this was down to condensation or a leak - the conditions were very damp and humid. A soaking wet pack away made for a testing but enjoyable exit to another mini adventure in our great outdoors.
