Franco German singer Karoline Rose aka SUN unleashes her Jekyll and Hyde brand of angsty, angry pop for the first time onto an unsuspecting London audience. Having invented the Brutal Pop genre specifically to contain and describe her unique proposition, she initially presents as a sort of Amazonian Barbie doll in a meringue style fairytale princess wedding frock paired with knee-high white leather platform boots and contrasting Fender Mustang axe. From this starting point, the melodic, poppy opener gives little away until apropos to nothing, a warning shriek enters the lexicon, and the flipside of her onstage persona shatters through with increasing regularity and ferocity seemingly following the mantra, when the going gets tough, the pop gets metal. She shreds and headbangs and stomps through the set, her roar never losing its intensity or effect. To augment her epic shredding volume, she mirrors the scale of the sound (massive for a three piece) with epic use of an upturned fan to boost her already considerable hair volume creating a corona of lashing golden serpents.
