I did a bat creature design for a 3d challenge at CGHub.com:

Its actually a really mutated version of a Pokemon called Noivern from the New X and Y game. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot too! Just went through the same workflow as usual:
-Zspheres
-Work on proportions
-Block out details
-Refine details
-Add in alphas and fine details.
