Field shotguns are usually set up to shoot a 50/50 pattern at 40 yards. So, the point of impact (POI) is the same as the point of aim (POA).

What does this mean for closer shots. I shoot most of my grouse at 10 yards or less. At the beginning of the season I was missing quite a lot of easy close shots until I did a test with some targets. Since incorporating the results into my shooting I have got a lot more grouse.

I do the test with my normal load (7 1/2) and choke (improved cylinder).
