A "propaganda" and a "vulgar movie." That’s how Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid described The Kashmir Files. And it has sparked a huge row. He made the remark at the closing ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival of India. Lapid headed the jury at the film festival. He said that the movie is "inappropriate for an artistic, competitive section of such a prestigious film festival." Soon after Israel's ambassador to India, Naor Gilon, came down heavily on a filmmaker from his country. Gilon said Lapid abused the Indian invitation to the judges' panel in the "worst way." He took to Twitter to criticise Lapid’s stance and said he "should be ashamed." He also apologised to India in an "open letter" on Twitter.
