Ralph Lauren (born Ralph Lifshitz on October 14, 1939, in New York City) is an American fashion designer, business executive, and philanthropist, best known for creating the iconic Polo Ralph Lauren brand.

Growing up in the Bronx, Lauren developed an early interest in style and luxury. After briefly attending Baruch College and serving in the U.S. Army, he began his career as a tie designer.
