Captivating country garden

We designed this garden for clients who had purchased a forever home in the countryside just outside of Leeds, West Yorkshire. They own a large area of land around the house, so this has been a wonderful opportunity for us to create a truly fabulous garden.

The design of the large north-facing garden makes the most of the space. A terraced area near the house features sun loungers, a fire pit, a dining area and a hot tub. These are all easily accessible from the house and make the most of the stunning views across the Yorkshire countryside. The terraced area leads onto a sizable open lawn which contrasts beautifully with walkways planted with ornamental trees and flowers. Several sculptures belonging to the clients have been used to create focal points and enhance the space's sense of height and depth. As the clients intend to keep bees, an apiary, surrounded by flowers and shrubs, has been designed at the end of an idyllic pathway.

There is also a small south-facing courtyard on the other side of the house, which, as you can imagine, is the ideal suntrap. Our design makes the most of this gorgeous Yorkshire sandstone courtyard by using complementary materials and colours to create a spacious, satisfying outdoor seating and dining area. A pergola, elegantly draped with climbing plants, provides ample shade without ruining the characterful courtyard.
