George was interviewed for the documentary, "Kefi, The Story of FDF, the Greek Orthodox Folk Dance Festival" in Glendale, California, at the home of Fotiny Varvitsiotis. Fotiny’s husband, Nick, and George danced with Athan Karas and The Hellenic Dancers, and the Intersection Dancers. George became an FDF judge in 1986 and served for more than 30 years. The only way to learn Greek dances at that time was from visiting dancers from Greece. George was instrumental in starting the FDF scholarship program for travel abroad to study the dances and music. He makes observations about explaining the stories in the dances, styles and past vs. future of FDF. Although there is some disagreement about FDF being a competition, George says “...years ago, they took a poll amongst all the dancers. You want competition or do you want to do away with it? 80% said ‘we want competition.’”
