The Chinese Masonic Society Lion & Dragon Dance team were honoured to be able to participate in Australia's first National Lion Dance Competition, held in Cabramatta in September 2025.

This encore performance, featuring the competition team and understudies, was showcased at the 2025 Melbourne Chinatown Moon Festival.

Story: Sun Wukong: Havoc in Heaven
Sun Wukong awakens from a deep slumber and finds himself amidst the skies of the heavenly palace. A fabulous aroma guides him to the peach
gardens. Wukong dances cautiously towards the tree to get a closer look. After showing curiosity, he flips again towards the peach and tastes it.

Realising he has committed a serious offence, he fights his way through the heavenly warriors’ enormous army, and ultimately breaks out of the heavenly palace.

Wukong summons his magical cloud and rides it through the skies.

During his escape, Wukong is banished to the Five Finger Mountain (square table) where he is forced to journey with his new master. As a sign of his obedience, he must wear the Golden Headband throughout his treacherous mission.

At first, he is resilient and tries to forcibly remove the headband. He struggles, at moments almost succeeding, but never breaking free.

Finally, Wukong accepts his destiny and wears the headband with pride. He somersaults into the skies and embraces the journey ahead of him with courage.
