Cathedral - Fountain of Innocence bass cover

Описание к видео Cathedral - Fountain of Innocence bass cover

Bass cover of Cathedral's "Fountain of Innocence" from their 1993 record, The Ethereal Mirror. I've recently begun to really appreciate these guys' stuff and thought it would be fitting to learn my favorite track from them so far, this one. Their riffy, grooving, heavy sound mixed with the wacky, humorous aesthetics is right up my alley, so I've been having too much fun with them. The bass on this song (and the whole record) was done by the band's primary guitarist, Gaz Jennings, and in my opinion he does an absolutely phenomenal job on the bass work. He channels some serious Geezer Butler which makes it a lot of fun to jam along to. I got most of the fills in decently accurately, but I did improvise on a few parts; other than that, I've followed the main line almost fully.

I'm playing an 80s Charvel CSM-2B PJ bass with DR black beauty strings and Seymour Duncan pickups through a Genz Benz Contour 500 amp. I've got the P pickup soloed with the tone knob rolled down probably by about a quarter turn. I'm tuned to BF#BE, which is like C standard with a drop B. I boosted the mids in the EQ a bit, and cut some of the highs, because this bass likes to scream even when sometimes I'd rather it not.

Thanks for watching! Happy new year, too! I hope everyone's 2017 was as great as mine was, and wishing a wonderful and blessed 2018 to everyone.
