Swami Ramalingam and the Light Body

Thai Poosam is the day on which the great Tamil Saint Swami Ramalingam ascended, (1874) triumphing over the darkness. He was able to transcend the limited physical body and limited mind.

He lived and maintained his body of light for 1-1/2 years for all to witness. On the Pushya star and Full Moon day, he made his final merger with the light complete and physically disappeared from the earth plane. No traces of his body were ever found.

Thai Poosam is a very important day for the entire human race. On this day we celebrate the Ascension Day of Swami Ramalingam in 1874. He ascended, not with great joy. He had transformed his body into light Body then he wanted to give this Light Body to other people. Even the people who were around him were not excited about the Light Body.

They wanted to keep this physical body, no matter how painful the bodily experience of going through diseases, old age and death could be. They really wanted to hang onto this flesh and blood body. So Ramalingam was quite frustrated; he said "I opened my shop. Nobody came forward to buy in. I will come back again, but I will do it differently." So he left with frustrations.

Why did he recommend this Light Body? Because he clearly explained to people, "the body is the source of all the problems." As long as you have a meat body, no matter who you are, whether a king or billionaire, or a beggar, you are subjected to aches and pains and and diseases, old age and death. And human life should be more than just remain as a victim to this physical body."

After all, this physical body is not the real body. It is only real as long as you make it real. And collectively we have made it real through a gross level of consciousness. Just look at the example of matter itself; for example, a gross form of matter like a glass. Fundamentally, although it looks like a glass to the naked eye, if you look through an an electron microscope, it's just a bunch of atoms.

But do we see the atoms or a glass? We see only the glass! The same thing applies to our physical body too. So we are really getting attached to the superficial reality and then make it real and then go through suffering and intense pain. Then you are going through old age and a death process where you have diseases too. And it is a wrong choice that was Ramilingam's argument for everybody to stop looking at their body as something real, but then go to the core of our existence which is Light.

So he turned his body into Light Body through his own austerities, meditation practices and also through grace. And he laid out a path of how you can go from your gross body to the Light Body. And he also gave a very graphic description of what happened to his body when it was going through the stages of transformation.

And then finally, when the transformation was complete and in him there was complete joy. There was not even one moment of painful and feeling about anything. He was only completely blissed out. And he was not confined to one place and he to go anywhere and do anything that he wanted to do. And he put out the message to people that the Light Body was the birthright of every human being.

It's a matter of evolution. So don't get stuck with this physical body. Just realize that the core of the physical body is just Light and then experience this Light. And we are going to celebrate this and I will to do a special webcast on that day, explaining the key aspects of from Ramalingam's teaching.

It's all about intelligence and what is called "Arul" intelligence. The intelligence that comes from science and technology is called "Marul" intelligence; it is very limited and based on logic and reasoning, and that is not going to guarantee us a permanent solution for human problems. The human problems will only come to an end when we have transcended our human nature and we are not conditioned by our human matter, but we will have no substance except light. It's light merging with Light. So, I will do a webcast, on this special day and the Pushya is a very special star that facilitates the process of experience.

Every star has its own characteristics. There are 27 stars recognized by the Indian Vedic astrological system. Out of the 27 stars, the Pushya Star is one of those 27 stars.
