Star Wars Episode 9 The Rise of Skywalker had a long road to release. It wasn't even the first Episode IX that Disney and Lucasfilm had developed. Originally, before JJ Abrams was brought back, they hired Colin Trevorrow to write and direct the end of the Skywalker Saga. However, due to creative differences with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher, Trevorrow left the project. A draft of the script he wrote titled Duel of the Fates has since leaked online, and in my humble opinion, it was the ending to the Star Wars story we deserves. Lets walk through this What If of the Star Wars universe that could have been.
