In full: Boris Johnson says his final goodbyes as he leaves Downing Street for last time

Boris Johnson is set to deliver his farewell speech in Downing Street as Liz Truss prepares to formally take over as prime minister.

Mr Johnson will address the nation at 7.30am before then flying to Balmoral in Scotland where he will meet the Queen and relinquish his position as premier.

Ms Truss will then meet with the Queen separately and she will be invited to form the next government.

The new Tory leader will then fly back to Downing Street to deliver her own address to the nation this afternoon and to walk through the famous black door of No 10 as PM for the first time.
