I overheard on my radio dispatch asking a crew if they could switch to main track two a few miles west at Walker. Their reply was that they couldn’t comply, having just passed the Walker control point. Dispatch then told them to watch the signal at Silverwood, where they’d need to make a brief stop to let traffic ahead clear. The stop lasted only a few minutes, which I edited out, before she was on her way again. It’s amazing how easily and smoothly these trains can stop and go on such a steep uphill grade. A few Thermo King refrigerator units happened to stop right in front of my location, humming away and keeping something fresh and cool.
