At a low pressure between 1mTorr and 100 torr, apply a potential difference to each electrode of anode and cathode.
The ionization reaction is caused by the collision of free electrons and neutral gases. This reaction produces electrons and ions continuously, resulting in a plasma state.
In plasma conditions, ions and electrons develop sheath around electrodes or chamber walls due to differences in mobility.
In the sheath, the electric field occurs very largely, accelerating ions and crashing into the wall.
Samadii-DC plasma simulation uses this phenomenon to perform semiconductor and display surface treatment processes.
