A music performance inspired by the visions, the personality and the music of Hildegard von Bingen. Based on the death of Ricardis von Stadte, Hildegard’s student and close friend, the performance explores the numb, awkward immobility preceding the death of a beloved, followed by anger, grief and acceptance. Canto Soave recorded and sung live the music of Hildegard and collaborated with Constantine Skourlis who created an electronic composition attempting to capture the various states of mind and overwhelming emotions of the Benedictine abbess, philosopher, musician and visionary. Director Themelis Glynatsis conceived a simple almost ascetic dramaturgy and “choreographed” with precision the four musicians of Canto Soave, sopranos Maira Milolidaki, Natassa Angelopoulou, mezzo soprano Effi Minakoulis and harpischord player Katerina Ktona and the dancer Daphne Antoniadou, in a scenic environment realized by set and costume designer Alexia Theodoraki and lit by light designer Stella Kaltsou. The performance is completed with a video conceived and designed by Marios Gampierakis and Chryssoula Korovessi.
