In this video, Prof. John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates simple way to add dramatic interest to your silver jewelry creations with ombré effects.

The process begins with the patination of your silver object using liver of sulfur (LOS). The use of LOS for this process is desirable for two reasons. First, the LOS creates a rich blueish/black patina color on silver. Second, LOS is fairly easy to remove with light abrasion. Next, select the area(s) on your piece where you would like to create an ombré effect. Then, using 0000 steel wool, begin to remove the LOS starting at the point where you want the silver to be its brightest.
