Описание к видео Repair Spalling Concrete - DIY with MARSHALLTOWN

Spalling Concrete is a common issue in places with freeze thaw cycles. Here we will show you how to repair it on this garage floor.

To repair spalled concrete you will need the following materials: Portland Cement, Sand, Water, Acrylic Fortifier, Plasticizer.

You will also need the following tools: hammer, Chisel, Spray Bottle, Margin Trowel, paint brush, Finishing Trowel, Broom and a wire brush

The first step is: remove the damage concrete. You can hear the difference from solid concrete and material that will soon flake off. By dragging a hammer across the surface listening for the hollow sound Here we used a DASCO PRO Small Cold Chisel and a Vaughan hammer to find and remove damaged sections.

The second step is: remove the dirt and debris. Start with sweeping away all the large chunks of concrete. Then use a wire brush and vacuum to remove any loose concrete, dust and dirt. This will make sure you have a solid foundation for the repair.

The third step is: clean the area with water and detergent Spray on the area and scrub it with a stiff scrub brush. Rinse the area with water and remove the excess water with a clean broom. Let the area dry for around 24 hours.

The Fourth Step is: Apply a Cement Slurry base. Mix together equal parts of water, acrylic fortifier, and cement. Pre-wet the damaged concrete with water but make sure the water is not pooling. This step will reduce the risk of cracking or delamination. Then apply the slurry with a paintbrush to the old concrete to improve bonding.

The Fifth Step is: Apply Fresh Concrete. Mix together 2 parts sand, one part cement and one part water. Start with a little water and work up to one full part. The mix should be the consistency of peanut butter. Once you have the proper consistency add a very small amount of plasticizer until the concrete turns to a liquid consistency.

Pour the mixture into the area of spalled concrete. Spread it into all the edges and remove any excess from the surrounding flooring. If desired, you can broom finish once it starts to firm up. In our case we wanted smooth.

Let the area cure for at least 24 hours before walking or driving on it.
