Exercise of the Week this week is a High Plank + Single-Arm Tank Pulls! I for real love this one! Combining some of my favorite moves/equipment; planks, battle rope, and tank, into one incredible exercise!

You’re taking the static move of the high plank itself and adding in a dynamic movement of using a single-arm to pull the weighted tank towards you. One of the best aspects of the tank is the more/faster you pull, the more difficult it becomes. This one is a serious beast! Once you get the tank as close to you as possible, hop up, push the tank back to the starting position, run back to the plank spot, and repeat with the other arm! Pushing the tank back to the starting spot provides an explosive, full-body move to compliment this week’s featured exercise of the High Plank + Single-Arm Tank Pulls! Pushing the tank itself helps to develop functional strength as the arms and legs work together to coordinate strength, as the core is engaged to keep the body stable.

The high plank itself offers many benefits including, but not limited to:

· Increasing core strength
· Increasing muscle definition
· Reduction in back pain
· Improvement in posture
· Strengthens the wrists and hands
· Strengthens the spinal extensors

Planks work the transversus abdominus muscle, which is the deepest of the abdominal muscles and, therefore, helps to build the foundation that enables you to develop your abs.

Adding the tank pull to the high plank forces your body to work even harder to stabilize itself, because you’re now fighting against not only gravity, but also the momentum generated by moving yourself into a three-point plank position as you lift your arm to grab and pull the rope, bringing the tank towards you. The key to getting the most out of this exercise is keeping your core and hips as still as possible as you pull the tank towards you.
