You may think it’s all fun and games to be a professional gamer, but there’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears that go into transforming this fun hobby into a profession. Pro gamers don’t just sit around all day munching on Doritos and drinking Mountain Dew; they train like professional athletes and dedicate nearly every second of their lives to perfecting their craft. In fact, you’d be surprised at how similar the life of a pro athlete is to the life of a pro gamer. So let’s talk about how difficult it really is to become one of the top pro gamers in the world.

On the surface, life as a pro gamer doesn’t sound too difficult, but it’s insanely stressful. We’re getting anxiety just thinking of being a pro gamer. For starters, you have to spend pretty much all of your day playing the game. We’re talking anywhere between 8-16 hours a day. Yes, you read that right, some gamers work for 16 hours a day. We don’t even understand how that’s possible, but eSports is incredibly competitive and, to many pro gamers, time spent not training is time spent allowing other teams to get better.
