Join me on an early-morning Thanksgiving drive through our beautiful city. I start in the dark before sunrise, heading toward the lakefront, Field Museum, McCormick Place, Soldier Field, and the downtown high-rises.

We’ll cruise along Lakeshore Drive and try to catch Chicago’s famous Christmas tree and holiday decorations. The streets are quiet, the lake is dark, and the city is glowing with early-morning Thanksgiving spirit.

I’ve lived in Chicago for over 45 years, and I want to share the places that mean something to all of us — the museums, the skyline, the lake, and the peaceful moments before the city wakes up.
