Birding Coastal Croatia - Shrikes and Warblers

Описание к видео Birding Coastal Croatia - Shrikes and Warblers

Summertime birding on the beautiful Peljesac peninsula in Southern Dalmatia, Croatia. Opening shots are from the top of mount Saint Eliah near Orebic, looking southeast along the ridge toward Ston and Dubrovnik. Main bird shots are taken from the footpath about 3 km north of the Franciscan monastery. The path winds through uncultivated fields with good views west across the bay to Korcula island. Bird species are Red-backed Shrike, western Olivaceous Warbler, Olive-Tree Warbler, Orphean Warbler. Singing Subalpine Warbler and Golden Oriole can be heard at 2:49 and 5:39, and that is Eurasian Scops Owl at the end. At the height of summer in the first week of August, bird activity was low. RB Shrike juveniles, Olivaceous and Olive-Tree Warblers were in abundance. Olive-tree Warblers were particularly shy, keeping well-hidden when foraging and always flying low from shrub to vine. See the freeze-frame of the Olive-tree Warbler (2:03) streaking behind the perched shrike.
