How to Crochet a Throw Blanket with Jumbo Yarn | Easy for Beginners

Learn how to crochet a throw blanket with jumbo yarn. This is an EASY step by step beginner tutorial. This is a quick project that will crochet up fast.

I used 10 skeins total to make this blanket with a total of 305 yards of size 7 weighted jumbo yarn. I purchased the yarn from Hobby Lobby. The brand name of the yarn, color of the yarn, number of skeins I used, and number of yards per skein are listed below:
Yarn Bee brand, Eternal Bliss White, 28 yards per skein - 2 skeins
Yarn Bee brand, Eternal Bliss Taupe, 28 yards per skein - 4 skeins
Baby Bee brand, Cuddly One Taupe, 33 yards per skein - 4 skeins

I used a Q crochet hook, crochet row / stitch markers, plastic yarn needle, and scissors.

Abbreviations:
ch - Chain
sc – single crochet

Crochet Pattern Instructions:
46 CH for the foundation chain.
Row 1 (Crochet into the back of each chain stitch of the foundation chain for the entire row 1.) Sc into the 2nd ch from the hook into the back stitch of the foundation ch, ch 1 *skip a chain and 1 sc into the next ch, repeat from * to the end of row 1, turn

Row 2 ch 1, 1 sc into the front stitch of the sc of the row prior, *ch 1, 1sc into the front loop of the sc on the prior row, repeat from * to the end of the row, turn

Repeat row 2 for rows 3 thru 37 until the end of the blanket, finish off. Total of 37 rows.

The finished blanket measured 48 inches by 64 inches.
The foundation chain is a total of 46 chains. A total of 37 rows. The color changes for the blanket are as follows:
Row 1-3 Eternal Bliss Taupe
Row 4-8 Cuddly One Taupe
Row 9-11 Eternal Bliss White
Row 12-16 Cuddly One Taupe
Row 17-21 Eternal Bliss Taupe
Row 22-26 Cuddly One Taupe
Row 27-29 Eternal Bliss White
Row 30-34 Cuddly One Taupe
Row 35-37 Eternal Bliss Taupe
