LOSER GEEK WHATEVER || Be More Chill Animatic

surprise, bet you thought you'd seen the last of me.

but nope, here I am, almost an exact two years to the day after releasing my Upgrade animatic (I'm one day early ... but I'm done, so I'm releasing this now lol). it's been one hell of a journey.

in case you couldn't have guessed, the Broadway release of Be More Chill did indeed reignite my love and passion for the musical; the new cast album just brought such a wonderful breath of fresh air to an already original and thoroughly charming musical. I even had the good fortune to be able to see it on Broadway myself (thanks, Ally), which is a sentence I would have never even dreamed of a full two years ago.

but here we are.

Loser, Geek, Whatever really gave the musical something it was missing; Jeremy really needed his own Michael in the Bathroom moment, and they sure as hell gave it to him. after working on this project for two months, I hope I did it justice.

honestly, most of the song speaks for itself, so i'll stop gushing soon enough. I will say that I threw in more references and callbacks to my other animatics more times than I can count (if you can catch them all then you're cool) and, though you may have noticed this already, I spliced a few parts of the parts of the new cast album LGW with parts of the original beta LGW, mostly for emotion's sake. I was debating for a long while which version I should do, and eventually, I decided to just do both. sort of.

alright, I'm done gushing. I want to thank everyone who was there for me, start to finish, for this brief, albeit satisfying return to Be More Chill. I have two other completely new projects in the works that I'll hopefully get out by the end of the summer, but for now ... enjoy.
