2Ti 3:5  holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 

We can be like Jesus because of the power of God

Presence of the Holy Spirit gives us power
Zec 4:6  Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.

1Sa 16:13  Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah. 

Sampson
Jdg 13:24  Then the woman gave birth to a son and named him Samson; and the child grew up and the LORD blessed him. 
Jdg 13:25  And the Spirit of the LORD began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Jdg 15:15  He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, so he reached out and took it and killed a thousand men with it. 
Jdg 15:16  Then Samson said, "With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have killed a thousand men." 

Act 10:38  "You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Act 2:17  'AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,' God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS; 

The word anointed simply is the presence of the Lord

John is speaking to all addressed in the letter
1Jn 2:27  As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. 

The Holy Spirit is with us forever

We need guidance from the Holy Spirit to act in powerful

Occasions where Holy Spirit will act
To speak the word of God in boldness Act 4:31
Were continually filled with joy with the Holy Spirit in persecution Act 13:50-52
Steven sees heavens opened and Jesus standing at right hand of God Act 7:55
Manifestation of the Spirit for the common good 1 Cor 12:7
Our role is to be holy and not grieve the Holy Spirit Eph 5:18-20, Eph 4:29-32

Faith of other people can affect the power of your anointing. Jesus could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
